Aerial photography has developed rapidly over the past three years. If you follow this trend and buy a camera drone, you will have a lot of fun. But after using drones for a while, you will find that they don’t look like the great photos you see on Instagram. Don’t be surprised because many of these photos may have been made with some extra accessories. All photographers rely on other accessories to simplify their lives and take photo and video tapes a step further. Don’t worry, you can do the same. Below is one of the most useful drone accessories I’ve had the pleasure of using and testing. These accessories can help you improve the overall drone experience, improve video quality, flying adventure and safety.
1) Extra propeller and propeller shield:
The propeller (also called fan or blade) is the most vulnerable part of the drone. If you are going to fly a drone, you should always bring extra propellers. If you crash, the first part to rupture is the drone’s propeller. I have enough drone experience and I have more than 20 different drones. But even when I first received the DJI Phantom 2, it crashed. Prop guards are a different matter. They’re not necessary, but they come in handy if you’re flying indoors or wandering in a confined space. In the past six months I have only used propeller guards once or twice, but most people use them every day. If you often crash drones and severely damage the propellers, you should definitely get an escort.
2) Extra battery:
In recent years, drone technology has made great progress. The latest DJI Phantom 4 Pro offers 30 minutes of flight time, according to its website. For most non-commercial drone pilots, this will never be enough. Considering the time it takes to fly and land, you have 20 minutes to record the material. Therefore, make sure to purchase additional batteries or even more when needed to get a reliable backup. If you own a Phantom 4 Pro you may want to upgrade to a fast battery charger instead of the charger that comes with the package. It can charge the P4 Pro battery in 40 minutes instead of 65 minutes with a regular charger.
3) Extra battery charger:
Extra battery power allows longer flight time, although they also need to be charged. Once you have 2 or more batteries and each battery takes 60 minutes to recharge, the waiting time will quickly increase to several hours and the excess batteries will no longer be used. It is therefore best to buy an extra battery charger or a better battery charger, you may want to buy a multifunctional charger so that you can charge the battery at the same time.
4) Car Battery Charger:
When you are not on the road and the only power source can be the car battery, therefore it is important to buy a car battery charger for the drone. Therefore, if you have 1, 2 or 3 batteries, even if you travel, you will likely run out of all the batteries at some point. Therefore, you should be able to charge the batteries when you are away from the power outlet. please use batteries.
5) Tablet PC or iPad:
While controlling the drone, at least it also processes the online video from the smartphone, which makes it inconvenient. The screen is too small to clearly see what is happening there. Therefore, you are better off buying a trusted tablet with a screen large enough to provide a reliable feed of video clips. Depending on your financial budget, Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy tablets or other equivalent tablets with sufficient processor speed are usually very likely choices.
6) ND Filter:
As the motion blur increases, it is a wise choice to control the amount of light entering the camera lens and control the small jitter. In my opinion, ND filters are indeed indispensable, they make the videos on the Phantom series drones look more cinematic, and they are excellent because they don’t increase the drone’s gimbal. The new gimbal on the P4 Pro is very light and fragile, and I’ll be waiting to add weight to the front of the camera lens too.
7) GPS Tracking Device:
When flying a drone in remote areas such as mountains or sea, it will be difficult to find it when it collides with it. When you carry out the mission to rescue the drone, the drone GPS tracker installed on the legs of the drone can come in handy. Using the GPS tracking application on your smartphone, you can find the drone on the map of your smartphone with an accuracy of up to 2 meters.
8) Storage space:
If you do not have enough space to store the captured images, extra batteries are not practical.Consider buying 64 Gb micro SD card if you do not wish to transfer the video clips to your PC after each 2 flights.
9) Backpack or Travel Case:
If you are planning on taking your drone along your journeys, camping, bicycling or road trip you will realize the default packaging that comes with drones will not last for very long and not comfortable to carry along, to say the least. To get a more comfortable and safe solution, get a specifically created drone backpack or travel case; you will find loads of available options. In my opinion, hard-shell backpacks are the most functional and steady backpacks for the value.
